Tuesday
It is Tuesday Afternoon, and it is just lovely outside! I walked to class without a coat on this afternoon, which was a refreshing change.
Tuesdays are busy days. I have two classes (one of which I am in right now) and an Afghans for Afghans meeting. I think I'll be taking a break from the blanket I'm making to start a new fun project. I want to make a little hand bag type thing. I have a beige yarn, with multi-colored flecks in it. It's pretty, and was inexpensive.
My first class let out a little early today, so I had some time to play with Traveler before the long class. He is now resting happily at my feet.
Marley and Me came out today. I made it a point to pre-order it yesterday from Amazon. I got the two disc "Bad Dog" edition. I hope it comes by Thursday so I can watch it once the week's necessities are complete.
Friday is the job fair at the Copley Mariott. I'm taking a train in the morning with Matt to go to it. Which reminds me...
I had two interviews yesterday. One was for an internship for the summer, and the other was a Mock Interview courtesty of Career Services. The internship one... did not go well. Someone at the office is "deathy allergic to dogs" and the woman was just pretty cold in general, and it made me nervous. I had a computer issue, AGAIN, and sent her the wrong copy of the resume, so it has errors in it...just fantastic. Guess I won't be working there, and to top that off, it made me lose my confidence for the afternoon interview.
The mock interview was much better. I got some friendly and helpful pointers from my interviewer, and walked out of that feeling much better about my potential. He also gave me some pointers for the Job Fair. Good stuff.
That's about it for now... class is regrouping now.

Fantastic News!
Well, the computer situation was starting to get rather desperate, as neither the laptop or desktop were reliable, so today I went out and got a NEW LAPTOP!
When I went last week to get the alleged HP fixed, a lovely Dell laptop caught my eye. I explained to the head geek squad guy the issues with Zoom Text, and how I need it. I vowed that I would eventually be back for the laptop. Well I am home for a few days, so dad and I went out today to Best Buy.
I went straight to the Dell in question, and the same guy was there. He was willing to help me with the Dell, but he said that the brand isn't what it used to be, and that another brand like Toshiba or Gateway would be better. I had to think it over. In the meantime, dad was talking to another employee who saw the guide dog; his uncle has a guide fro GDF too! When he discovered that we were there for a laptop, he too suggested a Toshiba or Gateway. So, with this in mind, I had the first guy show me around ( the second one wasn't from that department but s the one I was dealing with was the best). He showed me to a very nice Toshiba computer, with everything I need. So, that's the one I have now. :)
So far, I am very impressed with this computer. It runs flawlessly. I have to configure it with stuff for the campus, and get Microsoft office on it, but so far, it is a much needed improvement!
That's about it for now. Chillin' with dad in the kitchen right now, while he cooks for the church breakfast tomorrow. Traveler is quite at home, curled up on Molly's bed. I don't think Molly minds though, she's off in the livingroom and quite comfortable. They get along so well.

It sure has been awhile...
So I'm back at school now. Spring break was certainly interesting, though along the way my laptop broke, so I was without a computer to post with until recently. It is SO hard being without a computer, especially when you're out of state. I can't possibly give a day to day detail of the trip and all, but I'll do my best! :)
The Trip to Pottsville:
Overall, I'd say this trip was alot of fun. Not only did I get to see a place totally unlike everything in Mass., but I got to know most of the class as well. We had fun! The town we stayed in left a lot to be desired, but the surrounding towns were interesting. There were a few fun bars in Pottsville, including Trippin' Billies (yes it's a Dave Matthews song). I did one interview on Friday, at a canine bakery in Minersville, and did research on coal mining and my family at the library on Saturday. Did some writing on Sunday, but other than that there wasn't much going on. It was fun though. Interesting scenario; put 22 college students together on a trip to the middle of nowhere...it was interesting.
Traveler did very well, all things considered. He and I had a room to ourselves, which was a relief. He seemed relaxed, despite the LONG car trip down there, and afterwards.
Monday the 9th: Another road trip!
Grandma and her neighbor Ms. Betty came to Pottsville to get me on Monday, for a grand tour of all of Schuylkill county. We went to St. Clair, Ashland, Centralia, and Shenandoah. All of these towns, Shenandoah especially, still show their coal mining past. There are alot of run down buildings, and everything is packed close together. It was interesting touring with two women who grew up there, they knew the stories behind every building and abamdoned colliery. We also stropped by the still operating Reading colliery; you could see the breaker high in the air, and the trucks coming out with coal. We got lost on our way back to Penndel, but made it back eventually. The next days were filled with fun. I had a harcut/makeover, courtesy of Aunt Marlene, and lots of shopping. We took a trip to the casino, which is always fun. Traveler was well behaved at Grandma's as well, though I think she may have been feeding him scraps...working on that though.
Home:
Took an Amtrak train home Thursday, the pup did well on the train, and was suprisingly energetic at home. He has fun at that house, because it's so big, and there are squeaky toys everywhere. Got alot of things done on Friday (denist, sending things in the mail, spending time with dad) and got the laptop fixed at best buy. Grandma wants me to buy another one, and I think I found the perfect one! It's a Dell at Best Buy, once I can, I shall go back for it.
Got back here on Sunday, and went home again last night to have St. Patricks Day festivities, and pick up an outfit for a mock interview program next week.
Both of my classes cancelled yesterday, one I didn't know about until I got there, so it was kind of a wasted day until evening. If I had known about class ahead of time, It would have been nice to go into Boston; I hear there was live Irish music at Fanuell Hall.
So that's an update. Hopefully the computer issues will soon be remedied.

As promised...last weekend.
Thursday:
After classes and such, I went home to see a play put on by my old high school. This was quite interesting; it was a spin off of Othello, being told in an aquarium by saltwater fish. It was their Festival play, and it was pretty funny. The set was nice. :) It was nice to be back in the High School, and to see the old director. After this, we went home and watched TV. I worked a little bit on the blanket I am crocheting.
Friday:
We woke up at an early 5:30AM. We were out of the house just before 7 on our way to the Middleboro train. I had booked an appointment at Brookline Animal Hospital at 1PM. In order to make this appointment on time, I got back on the train at 9:46. I heard about a flood in Boston, so I called Mike for details. Come to find out, he was in the city, so we met up at South Station. We went to Brookline so I could show Mike the Paris crepe place. We were there until 12:15, so rather than take the train back to the D line, I got the bright idea to try to find it on foot. After awhile, and a grand tour of Brookline, we found it! We were so proud.
The vet prescribed a special food for Traveler, a Hills Prescription Diet. this was a 10 pound bag. The flaw in this? I was planning on going to Harvard Square with Karen afterwards. So after some quick planning, I got off at the stop near her apartment with the intent of dropping off the food. Karen's sister Kelly met me outside, and had the idea of lending me a backpack to transport the food. So we did this, and trucked off to Harvard. We stopped at iHop and had pancakes. :) Then we went to Hidden Sweets, fun stuff! After this we made our way back to the red line, and I went back to South. Mike met me there, because he had a gift for me.
It was an exhausting day, but Matt still managed to convince me to go to Roche Bros. Later on at night, I talked to Kristen, and she asked to come over on Saturday, which I agreed to.
Saturday:
Kristen came over. We went to brunch, then she wanted to go to Michaels, so we went to Braintree and did so. Got some cute stickers for my book. :) After that, I was exhausted, so I went home, and had a quiet evening. Went to Crimson for dinner with the boys.
Sunday: I was supposed to go to a concert in Cambridge with some GDF grads, but after friday and saturday, i was wiped, so I stayed in. It was snowing, and I had to study for an exam anyway. Then came the blizzard overnight!
That was the weekend. The trip to PA is tomorrow, so lots to do tonight!

Snow day!
Just a quick post...In a later post I will talk about the events of last weekend. :)
Yesterday, we had another snow day here in Massachusetts. It was quite a blizzard for a good part of the night (yes it was!). Yesterday afternoon Kristen came over, and we spent the afternoon chillin' out. We went to CVS and dinner...nothing too complex.
Tonight after Traveler's last break, I took out the long leash, and let him play in the snow. He LOVED it; he was zipping around in circles and digging in the snow. He'd bury his snout and sniff, grab pieces of ice and hop around. It was so fun. Nice and quiet out at this time of night too. If it wasn't so dark, I'd try to get some pictures. Then again, I could do that tomorrow. :)
That's all for now. Studying for a test tomorrow in the meantime. Thursday morning we are leaving for the trip to PA, and the professor said that she thinks I have a room to myself because of the dog. There are good points and bad points to that, but who know what will happen.

Feb. 20th
I'm a little behind, so here we go...again..
On Friday the 20th, Traveler and I headed into the city to meet up with Karen and her lovely pup. I took the Green Line to Coolidge Corner to meet up with her for breakfast. We went to the little Paris Crepery just a block away from the train (I LOVE this place!). After a nice breakfast, and some catching up, we made our way to Cambridge. It was unbelieveably cold, so we ducked into the mall instead of walking around it. Once we got in there, we decided to look around for a Red Sox tag or charm that could be added to the dogs' collars. After a few misses, we found a sport store that had what we were looking for. Karen got a logo "B" covered in rhinestores for her pup, while I got a dog-tag shaped charm with the red sox logo for Traveler.
On our way out, we passed a stand where they had some other type of dog tags. I took a look, and after a few, realized that they have pictures etched on them! The owner of the stand was more than happy to talk about them, he was very interested in the dogs. Karen and I both wanted a tag with dog picture on it. He offered to take pictures of the dogs right there in the mall, and he even gave us a discount! He said the tags would take about half and hour, so we went to Petco while we waited. This is always a fun prospect, and we got a few things. A dog food rep found a type of food that might help Traveler's gland situation, so I bought some of that. I still have it actually....(never used it, but this will be explained).
We picked up the tags around three and they were just great! We were both a little tired, so instead of going to a store in Brookline to find the yarn store for the crochet hook I needed, we planned to meet the next day to go. I went home, and had a relaxing evening. Called mom after her shift at the store, and she talked me in to coming home the next day. This was at 12:30 or so, so I couldn't let Karen know about the change in plans until the next morning.
